During 2009 and 2010, I spent 14 months carrying out an independent research project in Malawi, working with young women in an urban township and studying gender issues. While in Malawi, I also worked as a Writing Correspondent for Glimpse, a nonprofit supported in part by National Geographic. You can find my blog, feature stories and insider tips here.
I also wrote about unsafe abortion in Malawi for GenderLinks.org. Find that story here.
I graduated from Brown University, where I studied modern American history. For a creative nonfiction course, I wrote about Brown before the advent of indoor plumbing (and all the mischief at the wells). That's available as a PDF here.
Find me on Flickr here. (Though I let my Pro account lapse, so there's unfortunately not much there.)
